Author's Note: Written for one of the five Author's Choice prompts; the last time I completed this challenge, I used the Western version of the Five Elements, but this time, since Mervyn Peake was born and grew up in China, I thought I'd go with the Chinese Five Elements. And since one of them is "wood", it was perfect for the Carvers.
