"So why do you want to be female anyway?" Tsuzuki asked, watching as Watari set to work mixing the last ingredients for the next version of his sex-change potion. "I mean, you're an awesome guy, why change something that's been working so far?"

Watari smiled at him. "It's a matter of research and a desire to understand: I lived surrounded by wonderful, *strong* women, in the form of my mother and my aunts and my sisters. I've wanted to see the world as *they* see it, to experience what they experienced and to understand it."

"Well, that makes sense, but why not just try disguising yourself as a woman?" Tsuzuki asked, innocently.

Watari set the beaker on a tripod over the bunsen burner and turned on the flame. "Oh, I've *tried* that, but putting on the clothing of a woman isn't much different from putting on a costume. People might treat one differently, but it isn't the same. It's only skin deep, as it were."

"Hah, you've got a really good point there," he says. "But it sounds kind of scary, though that's just me."

"Hmmm, yes, there is a certain amount of fear that comes in, but everything in life is meant to be understood and embraced, rather than feared. Fear, unfortunately, can cripple one's heart and therefore, your ability to understand," Watari said.

"Oh, I didn't mean that, I mean... what happens if you can't go back?" Tsuzuki asked.

Watari chuckled. "If it does, then I shall treat it as an experiment to last the rest of my time in purgatory," he said with a graceful shrug.

"Huh, that's a really good way to look at it," Tsuzuki replied, pondering this.
