Author's Note: Written for < lj user="fuda_100">'s "dolls". Featuring a very young Muraki.
He found one of his mother's dolls fallen from the long shelves on which they sat displayed, a puddle of silken skirts and tangled limbs. He stooped down to pick up the fallen poppet, caressing her cracked face. "It's all right," he said. "I'll take care of you. Papa and Grandfather are doctors and someday, I'll be a doctor. For dolls, not just people. Dolls need doctors just as much: they don't heal as easily, but they don't hurt as hard as people do. It's easier to make them better, though it's not so easy to make them pretty again..."
