Author's Note: Written for Sherlock BBC, Irene, at home. Inspired by something said by Madonna, about her own private life...
Her admirers and people whom she admired would be surprised to find her like this. When she wasn't entertaining -- or being entertained by people, when she wasn't abroad seeking adventure and bedeviling the powerful and the wise, showing them how truly powerless or foolish they were, she was at home, curled up on her sofa, clad in her favorite well-worn jumper and a pair of fleece lounging pants, a throw blanket tucked about her legs. A favorite book in hand and a cup of hot cocoa or tea within reach, perhaps with a plate of biscuits. The gas fire lit, warming the room, if it were a cold night. Simple, homely pleasures indeed, but it helped her to refresh her soul and keep her feet on the ground, so she would not be consumed by her own confidence....
