Author's Note: Written for
fic_promptly's Torchwood, Jack/Ianto, the one time Jack steals Mwfawny's chocolate.
It was a typical morning in the Hub: Toshiko was rebooting the server, Owen and Gwen hadn't arrived yet, and Ianto was putting out food for the pterodactyl: a few pounds of fish filets and a large bar of dark chocolate. Tosh glanced up, diverted by the movement, but said nothing for now.
"A boy and his pterodactyl," Jack teased, watching this, coffee cup in hand.
"Don't be mocking: You know what happens when you try to feed it," Ianto said, stepping back from the food.
Jack came down from the catwalk on which he'd been perched and reaching down, plucked up the bar of chocolate. "Maybe I just need to get her used to me," he said. And he held up the chocolate, waving it gently. "Here, Myfanwy," he called, whistling. "Come an' get it!"
"Jack, I wouldn't do that," Tosh warned, wide-eyed.
A screech high up in the metal rafters replied and the pterodactyl spiraled down to find her breakfast. Jack expected her to snatch the chocolate from his hand. But instead, she grabbed his shoulder with her feet, pulling him into the air and circling the ceiling with him. The chocolate dropped from his hand, nearly beaning Ianto.
"Put him *down*, Myfanwy!" Ianto snapped.
On command, the pterodactyl dropped Jack, who hit the deck with a thud. Myfanwy scented the chocolate and plucked it up, flying back up into the rafters, squeaking with delight.
"Ugh," Jack groaned, pulling himself up onto his elbow. "She's a strong one..."
Ianto glared at Jack. "You know she's not fond of you. Don't do that again."
Jack pulled himself onto his feet, rubbing the back of his neck. "Don't think I'm inclined to try again, after that kind of thanks."
Up in the rafters, Myfanwy made a teasing, chittering sound, if she might be laughing.
