He couldn't say who had captured whom: He had snatched the shinigami away from Meifu itself, tearing the veil between the worlds to claim his prize; now the creature of darkness and shadow lay restrained on his slab. But in a sense, the shinigami had captured him ages ago, when he'd first seen that yellowed photograph of his grandfather's most peculiar patient, had captured him with those bottomless eyes, now closed in unconsciousness.
Through him, Muraki would find release from his own frailties, from the shadows still haunting his nights, healing for his beloved, only to be captured as well...
