The day she started giving Tsuzuki cooking lessons, Wakaba started by figuring what her student did wrong, the better to help correct these mistakes. And so she simply watched him as he prepared some of his favorites. She soon saw his mistakes: He over-spiced things. He never burned things, but they over-cooked and turned crispy. He added too much butter, making it too soft. He over-iced cakes and covered that icing with far too many sprinkles. He added too much fruit or too many chocolate chips. His mistakes came from excess, and she knew that came from his too-big heart.
