Author's Note: Written for < lj user="fuda_100">'s "ice". Featuring Muraki (and this fic was heavily inspired "Let It Go" on the "Frozen" soundtrack; I have to admit, Elsa embracing her powers made me think of a kinder, gentler parallel to Muraki embracing his inner darkness).
Perhaps he felt this way because he came into the world in the depths of winter. But while others favored light and summery warmth, Muraki preferred darkness and winter's ice. His pale appearance allowed him to blend seamlessly into the silvery landscape. By night, no one could see the shadows within him when he stepped into the darkness; the cold put people off their guard, so they never saw him coming. Besides, people seeking warmth for the night would not mind his embrace, never suspecting what he needed from them.
He only had to embrace the darkness and cold within...
