Author's Note: Written for < lj user="tw100">'s "Challenge 275 – Scent." Set during "End of the Road", moments before Angelo's death. Past Jack Harkness/Angelo Colasanto.
The fading light made it harder to see Jack; and the tinnitus that fogged Angelo's ears made it harder to make out the words that he said, even from this close.
But as Jack pulled down the respirator mask, intending to kiss him, he could smell the man's skin, the rich, musky, almost animal scent, with something sharper about it, like gunpowder after a fireworks show. The scent that had intoxicated him as a young man, had lingered with him as a memory over the years of separation that followed.
The scent that washed over him now, at life's sunset...
